FOR OVER 50 YEARS the Society for Design Administration (SDA) has been providing accredited education, best management practices, and training on professional standards to help design firm personnel grow professionally. Our membership stretches across the United States and Canada and is composed of personnel in the architecture, engineering, construction, landscape, and interior design professions.

Canstruction Houston’s What is Canstruction?

Architects, engineers, designers, contractors and students mentored by these professionals, are challenged to design and build colossal sculptures using canned food as their primary building block. Tape and cardboard serve as nails and cement. The colors and designs on food product labels form the artists’ pallet. “Bricks” come in a variety of sizes from the smallest tuna can to the industrial-size tomato can.

This deliciously inventive charity broke ground in 1992, the brainchild of the Society for Design Administration in association with chapters of the American Institute of Architects and allied professional organizations in the design and construction industry. It is the most exciting food drive ever created. 25th Annual Canstruction Houston Design & Build Competition is now open for registration. The event location for 2023 will be at the George R. Brown Convention Center DOWNTOWN on November 11th, Saturday; Build Day and November 19th, Sunday; Decanstruction Day. Come join us and make this a great year for The Houston Food Bank.
